The very first product of ITW GSE Group that came into China was a Hobart Engine Drive in 1972. When the then US President Richard Nixon first visited China, a Hobart Engine Drive Unit was brought in with the Air force One, in order to support this aircraft. When the President’s Aircraft left China, this unit was donated to CAAC Beijing, which set a milestone and had paved the way for ITW GSE Group to China.
In 1994, Hobart Ground Power opened its liaison office in Beijing to better serve and support the sales and services of Hobart products in China. With its leading technical features and reliable performance, as well as the brand best-known worldwide, Hobart Engine Drive soon received a wide appreciation from Chinese customers and became a leading suppliers of the product of its kind in China aviation industry. Building on this success, the Solid State Frequency Converter by AXA and Hobart, and Air Starters and Air-conditioning Units by Trilectron/Air-a-Plane started to set their feet in China, and soon became dominant in the market. Today, products in all brand names of ITW GSE Group can be easily found in many major Chinese airports, aircraft hangars, and aircraft manufacturing plants.
In order to keep in line with the fast-growing economy and booming development of China’s aviation industry, and to better serve the increasing numbers of Chinese customers, ITW GSE Group established an ITW wholly-owned subsidiary company registering in Beijing, “ITW Airport Ground Equipment (Beijing) Ltd”, to manufacture and produce aircraft ground service equipment under all its brands. It is situated in a very aviation-convenient location, in the Airport Industrial Zone in Shunyi District of Beijing, with a few kilometers from the new Terminal 3 of the Beijing Capital Airport. This company will offer the Chinese customers all ITW GSE brand products with their original design, built quality, but in better price and with better service.

This move would greatly benefit Chinese customers in the following ways:
1) To local assembly will greatly reduce the selling price and the production/freighter time for delivery;
2) Payment accepted in RMB will make customers buying easier;
3) Local-based service engineers for after-sale service and localized stock for all spare parts will ensure a peace of mind for the customer’s operation;
4) Internet-based product information and technical manual/service bulletin in Chinese will greatly benefit our customers in China;
5) Frequently organized technical training/user conference/product seminar will make our products easier understood and operated
